How to Remove Your Toyota Truck Chair

How to Remove Your Toyota Truck Chair

The Toyota line of trucks has been popular since its introduction in the 1960s, mostly because of its reputation for longevity. When you have an older truck, sometimes things wear out that aren't expected, such as the upholstery on the seats. When that happens, you can swap out a new seat for the old one, or just get the old one reupholstered, depending on your preferences. In this case, the project vehicle is a 2001 Toyota Tacoma, but the process is similar for other Toyota trucks.

Difficulty:
Easy

Instructions

things you'll need:

  • 3/8-inch ratchet and socket
  • Assistant
    • 1

Open the driver's-side door and locate the seat bolts on the bottom of the seat. Unbolt them using a 3/8-inch ratchet and socket, and then place them in a safe spot for later use.

    • 2

Tilt the seat forward and unplug the wiring harness to the seat belts using your hands to release the clips. Then fold the back of the seat forward to make the seat easier to remove.

    • 3

Have your assistant hold one side of the seat as you hold the other. The two of you should lift up the seat and carry it out of the vehicle. Place it to the side, out of the way.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have bucket seats in your truck, this process is essentially the same, but you don't need an assistant and you just duplicate the process for each seat.
