How to Remove a 1992 Toyota Previa Stereo

The 1992 Previa is a minivan manufactured by Toyota Motor Corporation. The Previa has a basic radio layout that makes removing the factory stereo a breeze with nothing more than common household tools. The radio removal instructions are the same for all Previas made between 1991 and 1997; the Previa's stereo layout did not change during this time period.

Instructions

  • Pliers
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Socket wrench

      Use the pliers to turn the nut around the negative-battery cable counterclockwise to loosen it, and then remove the cable from the negative-battery post.

      Remove the two bolts and two screws from the radio-finish panel. The two bolts are on the bottom of the radio-finish panel; the two screws are on top.

      Grasp either end of the radio-finish panel. Pull it to remove it from the dash. There are small clips on the inside part of the panel that still hold it in. Pull firmly to dislodge the panel.

      Remove the four screws from around the Previa's stereo. There is one screw in each corner. Grasp the sides of the stereo and pull it out.

      Disconnect the two harnesses from the back part of the stereo to finish.
